Price panel upgrades, rewires and service calls on the spot, send the invoice when the job is done, and get paid by card or bank transfer from the invoice link.
An invoice that answers the client’s questions gets paid faster. Here’s what yours should show.
Your business details and license number
Your business name, phone number and electrical contractor license number. Many states expect it on bids and invoices, so check your licensing board's rules.
The job and its address
What you did and where: "200 A panel upgrade, 4120 Oak Hollow Dr." is clearer than "electrical work".
Labor, by the hour or by the job
Hours at your rate, or a flat price per task. Flat prices for common jobs make estimates quicker to write and easier to accept.
Materials
The panel, breakers, wire and devices, itemized or grouped, with quantities.
Permit and inspection fees
On their own line, so the client can see what went to the city or county.
Sales tax on the right lines
Materials are usually taxable. Whether labor is depends on your state and the kind of job, so ask your accountant.
Can I put my electrical license number on invoices?+
Yes. Add it once in Settings and it appears on every invoice and estimate you send.
How should I bill permit fees?+
Give them their own line, at cost or with your handling fee, so the client sees exactly what the permit cost. You can mark the line as not taxable.
Can I take a deposit before ordering materials?+
Yes, with the Premium plan. Ask for a deposit on the estimate; the client pays it when they approve, and it's taken off the final invoice automatically.
Are the electrical invoice and estimate templates really free?+
Yes. Download the printable PDFs on this page and fill them in by hand; there's nothing to sign up for. To fill them in on your phone, send them and get paid online, try Invoizr free for 14 days.
