What to put on a cleaning invoice

An invoice that answers the client’s questions gets paid faster. Here’s what yours should show.

  1. Your business details

    Your business name and phone number. If you're insured or bonded, saying so in the notes reassures new clients.

  2. The address and date of each clean

    Especially for regular clients, so each visit matches their calendar.

  3. The type of clean

    Standard, deep or move-out, with the size of the home (bedrooms and bathrooms, or square feet) that the price is based on.

  4. Add-ons on their own lines

    Inside the oven or fridge, interior windows, laundry, extra hours. Clients see exactly what they added.

  5. Supplies, if you bill them

    Many cleaners include supplies in the price; if you charge for them separately, list them.

  6. Sales tax, if it applies

    Some states tax cleaning services, so ask your accountant what applies where you work.

  7. Due date and how to pay

    A due date, or "due on receipt" for one-off cleans, and the ways the client can pay.
